A quick and economical solution to provide a new, flexible ceiling,
these suspended ceiling systems are constructed from a lightweight metal grid (exposed
or concealed), suspended from the soffit above at the desired height
with a series of ceiling tiles laid, or clipped into position. |

The void between the soffit and the
suspended ceiling can be used to run services, e.g. electrical wiring,
air-conditioning pipework, ductwork, sprinkler systems, water and
gas pipes etc. The suspended ceiling will also offer opportunities to be creative
with the lighting layout and can accommodate concealed or flush fittings
giving a clean uninterrupted appearance. Ceiling tiles are available
from a smooth, plain finish through to those offering complex and
intricate patterns. A mixture can also be arranged in such a way to
provide unique patterns throughout a given area.
Ceiling tiles can be chosen to achieve the required levels of sound
reduction/absorption, fire resistance, impact resistance moisture
resistance and stability as required in all normal types of buildings.
In particular, they are useful in providing the required fire resistance
to the underside of a Mezzanine Floor structure, when combined with
column casings and fascia panels.
Plasterboard monolithic suspended ceilings are suitable for dry lining
applications and comprise a concealed metal framework suspended from
the soffit above using angle section steel or strap hangers. Boards
can then be screw-fixed to the framework to form the ceiling. A seamless
surface is achieved by skimming or jointing and is then ready to receive
most decorative finishes. Curved ceiling surfaces can also be achieved
using this method, as can a degree of load-bearing for use with air
handling ductwork and moisture rich environments are serviced with
the use of the correct boards. |
